Mobile broadband laptop and netbook users to consume 1.3 exabytes of video per month worldwide by 2017
Newly released forecasts by technology and media specialist Coda Research Consultancy show that portable laptop and netbook users will access 1.3 exabytes of video content per month by 2017 – a sixty fold increase over 2009. This figure will account for nearly three quarters of all global traffic via mobile broadband portables. The top region for video consumption will be Asia Pacific, which will account for just over half (53%) of all video traffic globally. To contrast, Europe will account for 26% of all global video traffic, and North America 14%.
At the IFA 2009, Sony has unveiled their latest addition to the VAIO family. The VAIOX is a half-inch thin ultraportable laptop with an 11.1-inch screen, despite the lack of official full specs at the moment Sony has said that the VAIO X is set to further push the battery life limit amongst laptops.
With this in mind, the VAIO X is likely to pack an Atom processor but the price of this new lappie along with its well equipped luxurious body kit, it won’t surprise us too much should the pricetag be abit on the heavy side.
Just last week we reported about Nokia’s next big plan to entering the portable netbook computing arena and now we have further specs and info for those who have been fascinated. The Nokia Booklet 3G has been claimed to pack 12 hours of battery life with a whole host of impressive hardware.

We didn’t think that the Aspire Revo, Acer’s revolutionary nettop was that short of breath until we saw the latest news. Acer has made official announcement to give the Aspire Revo a much deserved upgrade. The new Acer Aspire Revo 3600 will sport Atom 330 Dual Core and pack 4GB of RAM. Further news to follow shortly!
