Apple has finally announced new important updates to their iPod Touch range today at the Apple event. Disappointingly, all the rumors about having an iPod Touch with a camera were untrue (or is Apple saving it for later on?). Though no major physical differences, users will be happy to hear that the 8GB iPod Touch has had a significant drop in pricing, it is effectively from now available at the Apple Store online for $199 (£149 on the UK Store).

For those in favour of an upgrade, at least hardware wise, the 32GB and the new 64GB iPod Touch received internal hardware upgrades and support for OpenGL|ES 2.0 which Apple says will make it 50% faster than the previous iPod Touch. The 32GB is now available for $299 and the 64GB for $399, this converts to £229 and £299 respectively for those in the UK.
