Odak announced Zi8 past, which is a new format of HD pocket video camera / camcorder. Zi8 is probably the best portable video camera to date. Flip recording features Ultra HD 1080p, electronic image stabilization and a slot for SDHC. It is essentially an improved version of himself predecessor, the Zi6.

With the increasing use of video on the web, it makes good sense to have a portable device of this nature. Another item that is on my shopping wish list!

I really don’t see the point of these kind of devices anymore. For a little bit more, one can get a real digicam with 720p video recording, and it would have better optics and optical zoom to boot. (I doubt the quality of this 1080p Kodak is going to be any better than a 720p recording with better optics/sensor). Even the Creative Zii is going to have HD video recording capability, for not much more money, and it’s a mobile OS platform too.
