Robonova robot: Cooler than Transformers 2?

Posted on July 6th, 2009 by Editorial Staff in Robotics

Lynxmotion’s latest robotic gadget known as Robonova may be considered as even cooler than some of the Transformers 2 movie Prime toys which have been released (depending on which side you’re on!). One thing there is no doubt about is that the Robonova is capable of some of the coolest moves we’ve seen from a robot. In fact, the Robonova may be at the starting point in which humanoid robots can start performing acts / moves that not all humans can do themselves!

Robonova’s movements are programmable, its body is highly flexible but still resembles much of that of a human. He is fully articulating and is about 12 inches in height. Robonova is powered by 16 digital servos. He can walk, run, dance and even do cartwheels…

A Robonova kit is available on a pricetag of $900 (USD). But this means you will need to assemble every module of the Robonova yourself, taking you approximately 6 to 8 hours! To save time and prevent yourself from wrecking the kit before its even able to come alive, you can buy the Ready-to-Walk version for $1,050.

It’s incredible how flexible and mobile this robot is. Very cool. I am hoping the price goes down and I love the forward flip he did in the video.

If robonova able to act as man kind as mentioned can run, dance and do cartwheels than sure it will be great revolution in robotic world.
