Casio’s latest EX-H10 is another one of those megazoom cameras with incredible functionalities such as the ability to take HD movies (720p HD at 24fps).
To begin retailing around mid-July, the $299.99 12-megapixel camera is fronted by a wide-angle 24mm lens with a 10x zoom with CCD-shift image stabilization in a body that’s 0.96 inch thick and weighs only 5.8 ounces.
What’s ridiculous though is the battery life the EX-H10 has as claimed by Casio. Up to 1,000 shots on a single charge! Its thought that is a result of low-energy requirements of the the multi-CPU Exilim Engine 4.0 circuitry and operational controls coupled with a high-capacity battery. Usage is based on CIPA standards calculated with the LCD monitor on; a full zoom back and forth every 30 seconds; the flash used every two shots; and the power cycled every 10 shots.

Well isn’t it energizer that is advertising it’s battery life that it can take 5000 shots with a normal camera? If it’s using standard double A’s then props, if it’s using some custom battery then err it’s been done. My DSLR although it has a custom battery can take up to 1000 pictures on a charge. And don’t think you’ll ever need to. I’ve been caught in so many travel situations where you’ll get somewhere and notice that the plugin’s are not the same as your battery charger or that you lost your converter.
I love the standards that are administered through CIPA though. The battery life tests are the most rigorous use of a camera in any situation and still it can get 1000 shots, thats good.
