When you think of netbooks, a large majority of them are tiny laptops built based on a nasty block of plastic, with no elegance to it whatsoever. ASUS’ new Eee PC 1002HAE (consider it an upgrade from the 1002HA) is abit different. The 1002HAE has an exterior aluminum skin which gives an added advantage of shedding half a pound of weight from 1.45kg to 1.2kg. While its main specs remain much the same – 1.6GHz N280 processor, 802.11b/g/n, 1GB of memory and 160GB disk, 1.3 megapixel webcam, memory card slot, 3.8-hour Li-Polymer battery, and 10-inch 1,024 x 600 pixel LED backlit display.
Those who fancy the 1002HA may be interested to know that the 1002HAE will cost about $500 when it becomes availabe on the 16th of May in Japan. The catch is though, no details have yet emerged about when it will be released anywhere else which doesn’t appear to be ASUS’ style of doing things so watch this space!
