Though only available for iPhone and iPod Touch app developers, we can tell you what changes have been noticed so far:

  • Obligatory performance improvements
  • MMS now works on T-Mobile in Germany, if you modify the carrier bundle
  • Spotlight now saves the last search
  • Spotlight search options (Want to only search apps, or everything but music?)
  • Minor UI tweaks
  • iPod Touches can now change the function tied to double tapping the home button

Interestingly, one message of uncertainty noticed by one of our readers (thanks Dave!) in this new update release, Apple has warned developers that an issue with beta 3 of iPhone Software 3.0 will prevent them from running iPhone apps that have been compiled for earlier version of the iPhone software, but said it hopes to resolve the issue with the release of the next beta.
