We received a question from a reader, Steve, yesterday and thought it was interesting to reply to him here. The question was regarding whether we know of any use of the new Wii gadget – jOG other than just for in gameplay (we believe he meant things such as hacks and mods). Steve, though we don’t have the jOG hardware ourselves (and we don’t play our Wii much neither!). We do think Tokyo Jogging may be your answer?

As far as we’re aware the jOG simply plugs into the Wii Remote and Nunchuk which then acts as a pedometer for the Wii. Tokyo Jogging isn’t a game as such but more like a platform on your computer (doesn’t require your Wii console to operate) that makes use of the Wiimote so that you can use it to run along the streets of Tokyo in Google street view. We believe if you do the same but in addition plug in your jOG, it should work the same way and achieve what you asked for. Hopefully the video below will make sense to you and anyone else who’s looking for alternative uses of the jOG or just the Wii remote.
Tokyo Jogging is completely free, you just need to visit their site and download the relevant softwares to run, hope this answers your question!
