The rumors have been circulating for a while now that Apple would be launching a netbook soon. This comes as no surprise as the netbook market is booming and is exactly the time when Apple would want to make their move. CNN Money as well as a few other sources (below) have already mentioned that a couple sources close to the project claims Apple has a touchscreen netbook currently in the works and that this secret product could hit the market as early as the second half of this year.

The speculated sources suggests the netbook would have a screen 9.7 to 10-inches in size. While other specifications are yet to be leaked, Wintek appears to be the company slated to provide the touch panels while production goes through Quanta Computer. Considering the close working relationship of late between Apple and NVIDIA, does anyone reckon the possibility of seeing NVIDIA Ion onboard this mysterious machine? Of course, Apple’s boss Steve Jobs have said in the past that the company doesn’t know how to make a $500 notebook that isn’t junk, I wonder if this rumor is true what sort of pricetag will be on this badboy, but for the specs of a netbook (but with touchscreen? hmm, dilema!) I wouldn’t expect to pay too much more than that!

A totally flat netbook? NOt sure about other people, but I would find that very awkward to use.
