As you may recall, Sony’s latest VAIO P series is packaged with the Gobi chipset which is more than capable of running on both HSDPA and EV-DO for connectivity. Unfortunately, Sony (just US?) has chosen to block HSDPA access and has locked the super lightweight, pocketable notebook to connecting only via a Verizon Wireless EV-DO connection. But now, thanks to blogger tnkgrl, Sony’s restrictive plans are now virtually non-existent and those without a VZW contract will not have any problems at all when looking to connect via HSDPA. Tnkgrl has successfully hacked the HSDPA on the VAIO P, allowing it to be utilized by those not afraid to void a warranty on the $900 machine.
Click on tnkgrl’s link below, where there will be links to instructions on this mod and also some more pictures of the process.
We’ve been craving at some brilliant supercar pictures today. The Hulme CanAm costed its developer Jock Freemantle a mortgage to his house to build and thankfully development has of the supercar has gone well so far and it will go on sale next year if everything continues to go smoothly. The Hulme will be available in both closed-roof and open-air versions, with a Corvette Z06-sourced V8, this lightweight package is a 640 horsepower powerplant!
Gallery after the jump…
Check out these pictures, just hot off the blogosphere. iPodObserver first posted a version of the above photo that allegedly depicts an unreleased 16GB iPhone with the model number of A1303. As you can see in the pictures, instead of the a glossy backend, it now has a matte black finish.

The images have reportedly come from China and are said to depict the back-casing of the next iPhone. The case is also said to be textured for better gripping.
This is just a quick update for those who are really looking forward to Palm’s latest flagship. It’s finally been leaked via the Sprint website, the Palm Pre will sport alot of the specs which we have already mentioned but in addition to that is a few things we now know is confirmed. Storage will be 8GB, it will have on board Microsoft Outlook for email, integrated IM, built in GPS, headphone jack is 3.5mm and finally 3-megapixel camera with flash (more on the specs here).
Precentral also picked up on an important point revealed within the specs by Sprint…
7.4GB will actually be available from the 8GB included, possibly implying the size of the OS is somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 megs or so (though it’s still unclear what the relationship between the 8GB of storage and RAM will be, and whether or not the Pre will use Program Memory RAM/Storage ROM/Mass Storage like Windows Mobile or have a simpler RAM/Storage setup like other phones).
Also, MMS is CONFIRMED. So is Phone-as-modem via bluetooth or USB tethering. Yes!!
All in all, its absolutely wonderful to see these specs out, Apple should start to feel scared! Am really hoping to hear more news on when the Palm Pre will arrive the UK and when it does, what network!? We’ll keep you updated on this too.
