Xwaves is about to release the latest version of xGPS (v1.2) by the end of this month. For those that are not familiar, xGPS is an iPhone / iPod Touch application which will turn your iPhone into a GPS sat nav device, the best part is xGPS enables your iPhone to have turn by turn voice instructions.  The previous version xGPS (v1.1.0-1) which is  already available via Cydia and provides real-time GPS navigation, but it does not have voice instructions so this soon to come update version 1.2 will definitely be much more useful.

More on how to get xGPS working on your iPhone or iPod Touch after the break…

Firstly, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone before you can use this free app.

What you also need to get going with this app running on your iPhone / iPod Touch is:

  • Download xGPS v1.2 (not yet out!) and install it via Cydia
  • A jailbroken iPhone or an iPod Touch (for iPhone 2G and iPod Touch, requires an external GPS module to use this iPhone app, lots available online, just run a search via Google!)

Features of this app:

  • First beta version of voice navigation in English.
  • GPS co-ordinations are accessible under the GPS settings menu.
  • A night mode view, either enabled manually or automatically.
  • Playing music using iPhone or iPod at the same time when using the xGPS application.

The disadvantages:

  • xGPS depends on Google Maps so you will need a data connection to download it during your drive. However, you can also select a map area and download it ahead of time, just in case you expect a poor data connection during the drive.
  • Running this app can drain your iPhone’s battery life, so if you are planning to use this app while driving, you should also keep an iPhone car charger handy to keep it charged.

Check out the following demo videos of how this app works.

I’ve been surfing on-line more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It?s lovely worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the internet will probably be much more helpful than ever before.
