I’m sure you will have seen Pandora’s upcoming portable / handheld game console talked about on other blogs, its been building a considerable anticipation for many gamers. For those not in the know, the Pandora is a Linux based handheld console in the same vein as the GP2X from Gamepark, though much beefier. The handheld will likely see few if any commercial games getting released from established developers and publishers and is instead focused on the homebrew and bedroom coders market – something which has been steadily growing over the last few years.
So what are the specs of the Pandora game console?
- ARM® Cortex™-A8 600Mhz+ CPU running Linux
- 430-MHz TMS320C64x+™ DSP Core
- PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D hardware
- 800×480 4.3″ 16.7 million colours touchscreen LCD
- Wifi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth & High Speed USB 2.0 Host
- Dual SDHC card slots & SVideo TV output
- Dual Analogue and Digital gaming controls
- 43 button QWERTY and numeric keypad
- Around 10+ Hours battery life
There has been alot of confusion regarding Pandora’s first batch of consoles which were sold and dispatched in 2008 and now the second batch will be using the design of the prototype just completed last week, featured below? If I’m wrong please correct me – I am confused too! All I know is that there is a new cracking design to the console and it looks brilliant.
So anyway, here is what it will look like.
