After a few days trying and playing around with the Philips wake-up light. There are a few things we’ve grown to love about it. By the way if you haven’t seen our unboxing gallery, click here.
Pros:
- Very easy to use.
- Adjustable light intensity and sound volume by a scroll wheel.
- A ‘preview’ button where the wake-up light shows you what is going to happen next morning.
- There are 20 light intensity settings, depending on how bright you like to wake you up. The light gradually increases over 30 minutes before the time which you set wake up time.
- The max light intensity is very bright indeed, suitable for those who love bright light.
- ‘Snooze’ function, the snooze button is a huge button at the top, convenient and easy to reach.
- Various wake up alarm tunes, such as beeps, bird song, frogs, running water or FM radio.
- Feel much more energetic in the morning, especially if you start work very early. So it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to have SAD to use the Philips Wake-up Light.
Cons:
- It’s pricy.
- It’s build feels like plain plastic.
- No sleep mode, which means it does not have a dim dark function many other SAD lamp lights possess to ease users into a good night’s sleep. Not good if you have any form of SAD.
- It doesn’t have a separate alarm mode setting. For example, if you altered the light for reading or radio in the evening, the light intensity and sound volume will stay at that intensity for the alarm in the morning. The Wake-up light will use the last light intensity setting used and whatever radio volume your clock was last set to.
Conclusion
Although it is an expensive wake-up alarm, it will certainly suit those people who are having trouble waking up in the winter. If you want to check out the complete gallery of the wake-up light we received, please visit our gallery page!
