Review: Able Planet Foldable Active Noise Canceling Headphones

You may remember we unboxed a pair of Able Planet Foldable headphones (aka Clear Harmony Foldable with Linx Audio) a few weeks ago. If you missed that previous post, the unboxing gallery of it is here.

After trying out the headphones, we are quite happy to share some thoughts about it. Firstly we were well impressed with the design, quality of the sound and the noise isolation feature which Able Planet has placed a significant emphasis on. It basically does what it says on the tin.

As you will appreciate, the design is sporty but also appealing to any young amateur DJs. Along with its fold up feature, the size is compact and this reduces the risk to damage during times when you’re in a hurry and just need to stuff it into any carrying bag.

We have used it for listening to music and watching movies. The headphones are incredibly comfortable to wear (of course, adjustable) and for once I didn’t mind having it on my head for a long period of time. The quality you get with both music and spoken words (web chat, movies, etc…) is astonishing. With the active noise canceling function (ANC) switched on, you’d be surprise at how well this function works at reducing background disturbance, giving your music quality, volume and clarity an extra boost, what you get as a result really is what you asked your computer / portable player to play. You will even need to turn the volume down! I must admit Able Planet have done a great job with this.

Because we’re not experts in audiovisual equipments, frequency responses and sensitivities don’t convey any specific meaning to us. But hopefully for those who want to find out more about these headphones will benefit from the official specificationsbelow…

  • Comfortable padded headband
  • Even during the credit crunch, we would say the headphones are still reasonably priced because you really get the quality that you pay for

Cons:

  • (Unsure if this might be unacceptable to some) Sound effects of the technology in this headphone results in it feeling like as if it was coming from a distant as opposed to regular in-ear earphones
  • A serious connoisseurs of noise-canceling headphones may not feel 100% satisfied
  • The folding button at the top which needs to be pressed in order to fold is not as easy to reach if you have large fingers but this is a minor problem
