Hi, its very simple to unlock and jailbreak your iPhone 2G again. You need this page instead: http://blog.gadgetlite.com/2009/02/01/roundup-jailbreak-unlock-options/

Depending on your computer OS, just choose the appropriate QuickPwn tool. Download the tool, run it, then follow its instructions, there aren’t many steps, as it does most of the work for you.

Do let us know how you get on or if you have any further problems.

I accidently upgraded iphone to latest version that was offered in iTunes 8.1.1.10. AND I don’t recall last version of iPhone 2G. It was unlocked in May 2008.

What would be the right procedure step-by-step o unlock it again?

Hi, I got a 2g iphone, n im using mac osx. I followed every steps until there is a pop up saying “No bootloader V3.9 file found! Would you like to search the web…..” then it says “Failed”.. wut do i do? Help me pls.. thanks

Hi Braden, thanks for leaving your comment for us. You’re absolutely right to say that at the moment we’re missing Pwnage Tool for pc users, however, we don’t see that coming anytime soon. The iPhone Dev Team, I don’t think, has ever mentioned much about that.

What you suggested instead is what we recommend pc users who wish to have their iPhone 3G unlocked (please take a look at yellowsn0w, unlock tool for iPhone 3G which has now been released and used by thousands of users: http://blog.gadgetlite.com/2009/01/02/iphone-dev-releases-iphone-3g/). It is definitely feasible and sync with your own computer afterwards should not be a problem.

Hi,

I have the iphone 3g software v2.2. I definitely want to jailbreak but I also want to leave myself open for unlocking down the road. My question is whether there will be a Pwnage Tool 2.2 for windows anytime soon? Should I wait or should I try to track down a friend with a Mac? Can I do that? Use a Mac that I don’t have regular access to for Pwnage then carry on with QuickPwn and regular sync-ing activities with my windows machine after that?

Thank you! It was easy to follow and mistakes made can be reversed by restarting the whole process… No worries for your iPhone!

After the upgrade, you can even download and sync applications from iTunes.

Thanks for updating us on this Ivo, I was just about to ask you what sim card you were using as your problem didn’t sound like an issue with quickpwn, this is often related with the actual sim! But then you figured everything out yourself! Sorry for the delay in replying.

Problem is solved. I used a different simcard to update my software.
So when I inserted my simcard he didn’t accepted this.
Reinstal software in recoverymode and problem solved.

Hi,

I have updated my unlocked 2G iphone with new 2.2 software with I-tunes.
Offcourse my I phone is not unlocked anymore.
So i downloaded Quickpwn to unlock again.
When I did this I was able to use my simcard again, but I couldn’t do anything because my Iphone said it was an unknown Card.
I do receive messages and calls, but can’t do anything myself.
Can you help me?
Upgrade was done with normal computer not mac.

Scott, I’m afraid if you had known it was 3G earlier then it would have been fine. Because then you could have used Pwnage tool (requires a Mac though) to upgrade to 2.2, since the iPhone Dev have announced that they will be releasing their unlocking solution before New Year (http://blog.gadgetlite.com/2008/12/16/woohoo-iphone-dev-unlocks-iphone/).

But I’m sure there are lots of users like yourself who have updated not knowing so, hopefully iPhone Dev will come up with some kind of solution for those who have had their 3G’s baseband altered as a result of not upgrading using their tool.

Alos, I found out it is a 3G. I think I’m really screwed now. It’s a 3G upgraded to 2.2. I just have to wait for smeone to figure out how to unlock 2.2 on a 3g. Right?

Is the Pwnage Tool going to be available for Windows? If so, how long till it’s available. I used QuickPWN to upgrade my 2G phone to 2.2 and the Unlock option doesn’t appear. I’m assuming it’s because I didn’t use the Pwnage Tool. Tell me if I hosed the thing up.
