While some of you may have just jailbroken / unlocked iPhone firmware 2.1, you may have heard that the next version, version 2.2 is coming out really soon. In fact this leaked news have been rumoring the whole of this week and most including myself believe so. According to many resources across the web, it will apparently be out next friday (November 21). In case you were wondering what’s in store for the new and upcoming iPhone 2.2 software update, here they are, as mentioned by iPhone Hellas:

• New look for the Safari with the Google search bar now occupying its own space on the title bar
• Add toggle On / Off to disable the text auto-correction
• 461 Japanese emoji icons (only available in Japan)
• Support for new languages.
• The Line-in audio is activated and can be used through the headphone jack.
• New features of Maps.app:
  • Google Street View
  • Google Transit information – Routes public transport
  • Walking directions
  • Location sharing
• New features of the App Store:
  The sector ‘Categories’ now shows the icons of the applications instead of the list.
  In each page of the application has been added by a button ‘Tell A Friend’ & ‘Report A Problem’.
  Added the possibility of scoring the application when the user chooses to delete from the device
• Direct downloading of podcasts from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store

As you can see the list looks great and are all features that we will definitely appreciate, except, again there isn’t a copy and paste feature…

Nevertheless, the good news that we always look forward to in addition to the firmware update is the fact that the iPhone Dev Team have already mentioned that they probably won’t have any major issues hacking through firmware 2.2 as they have tested their software on its beta version. So jailbreakers, I don’t think we will need to wait too long to see a new jailbreak and unlock software update from the iPhone Dev Team after 2.2 has been officially released – hopefully rumors are correct and it will be released next friday!
