As you will know the new PSP-3000 barely shows any physical difference from its predecessor, the most obvious finding if you were given one to compare is that you would see it’s got a better anti-glare screen.
This probably further makes people wonder what’s going on, on the inside which makes Sony think it will be better than the previous. Folks at PC Watch couldn’t resist this temptation to disassemble and dissect it into pieces to get to the bottom of this, below are just a few pictures taken from their massive gallery:
Basically here’s the verdict:
- There isn’t much new here
- The screen has been replaced with one that has five times the contrast ratio, twice the color range, and a refresh rate that is twice as fast
- Other than that, there’s a built in microphone
- And a mystery “PS” button

The iPhone Dev Team is still hard at work unlocking the iPhone 3G for us, a signifigant milestone has now been reached with the ability to run a custom baseband.
Here’s a screenshot of a 3G iPhone whose baseband has been modified. And even though it’s modified — and fails the integrity check — it’s still running…
…Running modified baseband code is a very useful ability, but it’s still not possible to accurately estimate how close we are to the ultimate goal.
A short clip has been uploaded and can be seen here…
Folks at Akihabara have received the latest Panasonic Toughbook F8 Business Rugged Laptop. Although it looks nothing like what you would call slim, they have found it to be surprisingly lightweight. Currently, the SRP is between $2,099 to $2,499.
It does have some fancy, outstanding features, as you can see in the gallery below, it comes in a variety of sizes and two of the larger ones have got its DVD drive ‘built-in’ and opens like a vent, which makes me think that could be a great way to prevent it from overheating! It also has a rather awkward looking handle which allows users to carry it like a suitcase. More pictures in the gallery below…
The sleep mask is a clever idea, it’s nothing complicated as it’s name would sound. It features an electronic display that scrolls your destination so other passengers know when you need to get off the train. The idea is that you can sleep comfortably, while knowing someone will alert you when you’ve arrived at your destination, but does it actually work?
However, during a test run, no one alerted Pyocotan when he had arrived at his jumping off point. So the test failed. But he strongly believes the devices will be effective once more people start to use them.
