Latest iPhone gadgets: Check out this solar charging case…

Posted on September 22nd, 2008 by Editorial Staff in Cell Phones, Featured, Gadgets

If you’re cautious about being eco-friendly and want to save money (don’t sure if you’ll save lots with this though), you might want to give this solar charging iPhone case a try. All you need to do is insert your iPhone, switch the power on and place it under a spot with as much sunlight as possible.

Here are the main features…

  • Lithiumion polymer Battery capacity: 3.7V  1500mAh
  • Output voltage: 5V (max)
  • Output current: 600ma (max) + solar battery 100 (max)
  • Charge voltage: solar battery 6V USB/DC 5V
  • Charge current: 100ma (max) + 500ma (max)
  • Charging ime: less than 3hours
  • Peak power supplied by photocell: 0.61W
  • Size: 125mm x 64mm x 25mm
  • Weight: 100g

The solar iPhone case is also unique in a way, as you can see above in the specs, it’s also got it’s own built-in battery, which I think means it is possible to charge up the built-in battery using solar energy and then reserve it for your iPhone later on, very neat and handy to have!

The ‘Solar Power Leather Case for iPhone 2G/3G’ is now available via Brando for $48.00 USD in flip-top or side open design, click here for more info…

Has anyone tested this device? As much as I love the idea of solar powered chargers, I’ve not found them effective. I purchased one for my Nokia 3120 and it never really moved when I sat it by the window on a sunny day.

That would be interesting to find out, as you would assume that it works if people are already selling it online, right? And it’s not cheap for an iPhone case, it does cost almost 50 bucks! Thanks for your comment mate :)
