We all know and have seen the many creations of the BMW’s M division, they’re known for some of the world’s finest high performance cars. However, this time they have been called for a challenge they’re not used to, to build a “four door GT coupe” and to take it on the spot as BMW’s next flagship vehicle for the year 2010… And the end result, here is what they have come up with, the new 8 Series…

As you will be aware, it looks exactly like the 2007 BMW Concept CS (pictures below), which was first showed off at the 2007 Shanghai Motor Show.

According to M division head honcho Ludwig Willisch, the car will not be an “M” car per se, but the design is such a departure from typical BMW designs that, for the first time in the division’s history, they’ve been tasked to build their first non-M-badged vehicle. Though specs not yet available, the new 8 Series’ main rivalries will be the Mercedes Benz CLS3 AMG, the yet-to-be-released Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.

Watch the video below featuring the 2007 BMW Concept CS at the Shanghai Motor Show last year, I have a feeling there really isn’t going to be much difference in terms of the design between these two cars…
