We’ve previously seen the HTC Dream run the Android interface on YouTube, however the video was of very poor quality and blurry as well. But now we’ve finally received a much better glimce of Android in action and it now looks more definite than ever that T-Mobile will be the carrier network involved. First of all, here’s the video just for those who haven’t seen it off YouTube…

The pics have come from a Chinese forum, so it helps if you can read Chinese, these are the pics that have been posted and Android looks to be pretty much complete and ready in all its glory as Engadget have said… It’s unfortunate the pics don’t show what it looks like while on the internet but I can’t wait til it’s available in the UK, Android (and the phone) looks to be quite promising!

WebHostingRating.com is a new host rating site where we are trying to build the biggest searchable web hosting directory featuring complete information on all web hosting providers, all their web hosting plans, promotional and discount coupons, and unedited reviews by real customers.

I wish I had come across this site earlier, Web Hosting Rating is an easy to use site that checks out, compares and provide you with info on which webhosts best suits yourself. I’ve had the experience of searching for web hosts for this blog and it wasn’t easy at all. When you run a search for good web hosts for example, what you what to see is not just how that company presents and advertises itself but also most importantly user’s comments and reviews about their experience of using that host. Looking for user’s comments and reviews in my view isn’t all that easy, they’re not always gathered together and are from multiple search results, most of these user views that you see from search results are actually from forums as well (most end up as arguements with no conclusion!) so how would you know which user’s reviews are reliable, quite difficult in my opinion. Here the on site user reviews are conveniently located below the web host that you want to know more about, I felt most of these were even more useful than the web host specs itself!

Having just stumbled upon Web Hosting Rating’s articles, I also found it’s web hosting tutorials to be quite useful. It’s tutorials are comprehensive, professionally written and covers a range of topics and tips for situations like securing multiple domains, setting up e-commerce sites, choosing domains, etc… If you have ever been puzzled by some ‘expert’ user’s comments about how web hosts work. Then these tutorials will give you a much more better, comprehensive understanding that won’t confuse you!

Lastly to complete this quick post, Web Hosting Rating also features web hosting awards on its site, so if you’re abit lazy and don’t want to check out any reviews or articles and just want to choose the best, giving a click into the awards is what I suggest. Despite my experience of searching for webhosts in the past, even I didn’t realise how good some of the hosts I heard were until I saw the awards Web Hosting Rating had given out! A great feature to have…

For those who love to be outdoors this is not a bad car, great design concept, looks nice (not that colour tho). I can imagine this Topos Sail Caddy Van being put to good use, nice size, with a bit of techno tweak, add in some sort of WiFi capability, video games, boomboxes at the back and when the sun comes out just climb aboard for some sunbathing (of course this is just my idea…). Except one problem VW, we don’t get enough sunshine here in the UK to be able to enjoy your fabulous car, but elsewhere, great!

The Caddy Topos Sail design concept, based on the smallest model in the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle van range, uses design cues from classic yachts and has its multi-functional roof covered with wooden decking surrounded by aluminium roof rails.
The wooden sun deck on the roof is accessed via four matching wooden and aluminium steps in the Caddy’s tailgate, and to complete the design theme there are wooden inserts along the side of the vehicle and in the rear bumper.

Update (14/09/2008): The subsequent version of the iPhone firmware, version 2.1 can now be jailbroken, unlocked! More details – Roundup of jailbreaking, unlocking the iPhone 2.1 2G and 3G…
It’s been sometime since our last round up for jailbreaking the latest iPhone firmware, this latest round up will summarise for you the latest you need to know for jailbreaking the latest iPhone firmware, firmware version 2.0.2.

Since Apple’s update was released in an attempt to fix some of the issues relating to 3G on the iPhone well over a week ago, there have since been version updates released for various jailbreaking tools such as the Pwnage Tool, WinPwn and QuickPwn… So let’s get cracking!

  • Pwnage Tool 2.0.3.1

So let’s first talk about the latest Pwnage Tool from the iPhone Dev Team, it’s latest is now version 2.0.3.1, this latest release includes an updated Installer app. Though it’s the newest from the iPhone Dev Team, it will only jailbreak and NOT unlock the iPhone 3G running iPhone firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 or the latest 2.0.2. If the first gen iPhone (2G) is the one you have, this latest Pwnage Tool will jailbreak and unlock your iPhone running either firmware 1.1.4 or 1.1.5 or 2.x including iPhone firmware 2.0.1 and 2.0.2.

The latest Pwnage Tool will also include multi language support, these include, German, French, Hungarian and Russian. Please be aware that Pwnage Tool is only compatible for Mac users and not Windows users (use the tools below if you’re running Windows).

  • QuickPwn Tool 2.0.2

The Previous version of the QuickPwn Tool did not support Mac users and was originally made for just Windows users. The latest version 2.0.2 supports both OS now, and can be used to jailbreak the latest firmware 2.0.2 by anyone. Don’t be confused, QuickPwn Tool is not a replacement for the Pwnage Tool. Think of QuickPwn as the little brother of Pwnage Tool, err… In other words, the Pwnage Tool is still much more powerful.

As we mentioned in previous posts, QuickPwn makes it quicker and easier to jailbreak iPhone as it does not need iTunes based full restore. Pwnage Tool on the other hand is more powerful, because it allows you to create custom iPhone firmware versions which can then be used to pwn the iPhone to jailbreak it.

The Mac version of QuickPwn Tool will work on iPhone running firmware 2.0.2 and it’s interface is similar to the Pwnage Tool. The latest Windows version of the QuickPwn Tool has now been updated to work on iPhone running iPhone firmwares 2.x (2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2).

Just like the Pwnage Tool, QuickPwn Tool will only jailbreak and NOT unlock the iPhone 3G. If the first gen iPhone (2G) is the one you have, it will jailbreak and unlock your iPhone.

  • WinPwn Tool 2.5

The WinPwn Tool to me has never attracted as much attention in comparison to the creations of the iPhone Dev Team, especially now that QuickPwn is available. Nevertheless for Windows users, the latest WinPwn Tool, version 2.5 is available to jailbreak your iPhone running 2.x (2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2).

WinPwn 2.5 can be used to jailbreak, unlock and activate first gen iPhones running firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2. It can also be used to jailbreak iPhone 3G running firmware 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 but cannot unlock iPhone 3G.

The latest version of the tool comes with an all new user interface and includes the following features:

  • QuickPwn Support for iPhone firmware 2.0/2.0.1/2.0.2
  • Root partition resize support
  • Installer support
  • Basic / Expert modes
  • Wizard style interface
  • Automatic updater
  • Support for WinXP and Vista 32/64bit

You can use WinPwn in either Basic or Expert mode. The basic mode is like the easy mode where it uses default settings. All you need to do is build a custom firmware image and restore your iPhone using that custom firmware via iTunes. The expert mode as the name suggests gives you more control over the process.

You can download WinPwn 2.5 here. You must uninstall any older version of WinPwn before you install the latest version.

Should you choose to use WinPwn, here are some links in case you require further support:

Just came across a site and thought it was quite deserving of a quick mention. iPhone Theme maker, helps you create a custom theme for your iPhone in three simple steps, its free and pretty fun too. With a live preview on the left, you can see what the theme you’ve created will look like when applied before actually downloading it. Within the theme maker, you can change what you want to be displayed in three main areas, the wallpaper, dock and of course the status bar.

Here’s a screenshot of what I’ve just created in under a minute’s time…

There’s also the extra option to download a whole bunch of extra icons, like these… the iPod Nano ones would look pretty cool if used to replace the original one from Apple!

Click here to head over and create your own unique iPhone theme for free now!

It’s almost that time of the year, back to school once again but before all that summer fun vanishes completely, here’s a little something to boost your fun factor and to get prepared for your first day back. If you’ve got an old NES lying around, maybe it’s your dads’ first game console, you might want to ask for his permission before doing this little DIY.

As you can see, this trick turns the old NES’s boxed shape plastic case into an attractive geeky lunchbox, it’s a great idea, it’s large in size, holds all your snacks and it really doesn’t require much tool to convert. In fact nothing that you don’t already have lying around at home. Here are some pics to check out…
