After receiving a few messages from some readers this weekend about what to do if you’ve accidentally / not knowingly upgraded a 2G iPhone to the latest 2.0 firmware. While I had not thought about this happening myself, I just decided to search around the web for some clues and I believe at the moment the method below should be the best choice if the above situation does happen to anyone out there.
Just to let you know first of all, the method below is entirely unrelated to any new release of jailbreak software by the iPhone Dev Team because they have not actually released any updated version of their Pwnage Tool for the iPhone OS firmware version 2.0 as yet.
According to dailyapps, at the moment this method is the best way to get around your problem and if you follow the instructions correctly it should allow you to restore 1.1.4 on your iPhone and unlock it too. It’s based on using the items below, however, I should stress that this method only works for Mac users and NOT Windows users. Unfortunately Windows users will need to wait just abit longer but that should be available soon.
So before I link you over to dailyapps for the exact instructions, it is advised that you have the following list of programs downloaded and ready, again, proceed only if you are a Mac user!
- iTunes 7.7 (from Apple)
- iTunes 7.5 (from Apple)
- AppZapper
- iPhone 1.1.4 Firmware
- Pwnage Tool 1.1
- iPhone 3.9 and 4.6 Bootloaders
Once you have downloaded the list of programs above, click here to head over to dailyapps for the rest of the instructions, the whole of the downgrading process and unlocking should only take around 15 minutes.
Update (27/07/2008): A concise summary for your latest iPhone jailbreaking and unlocking needs has now been published, click here to visit this post.
Though just another concept in the making, I don’t see how this will be too difficult to make or come to reality. Heat Me as you will have guessed from the picture is a stirrer that plugs into your USB so when your coffee or tea have gone cold, just switch on your Heat Me stirrer to literally warm up your drink again!
Recently at the Panasonic Center, the company featured their latest product in the field of wall-mounted surface computing, the Digital Wall, the name may sound like a joke, but it definitely isn’t a mock up! As you will see in the video below, the screen performs well in terms of responsiveness and quality, just like Microsoft’s Surface PC. The Digital Wall has also been said to be considerably cheaper which is what all consumers will want these days, the only down side is that the Digital Wall isn’t multi-touch – that’s ashame especially when its got such a large screen! No further info as yet, but we’ll keep you updated.
No, I don’t mean literally a ride off my back like a piggyback ride but this, a pack that you where on your back (backpack) that’s actually a bike! The designer Chang Ting Jen came up with this brilliant idea, that if we could have bikes in our backpacks, not only will this be beneficial to our environment but also means good health with increased physical activity but also convenience! You might think it would be quite troublesome to carry this around over our back, but the backpack bicycle weighs just 5.5kg. If the metal bits can get replaced by plastic, this should even come down further more! Though just an idea, the backpack also doubles up as a hand cart whenever necessary (as pictured), so that means the backpack bicycle will be great for those who enjoy exploring but also beneficial for grannys when they go shopping!
If you haven’t yet bought the latest iPhone 3G or if you’re in the UK and stock has coincidently run out where you live because of O2′s limited supply then you might like to sit back abit and think about which one you’re going to buy.
Basically you don’t have much choice, black or white, the main difference is do you need 16 Gb or is 8 Gb just fine? If the latter is your choice then you will only have the black to choose from, on the other hand if you don’t really care about the memory capacity and have got the cash to throw then take a look at these pics…
This laser engraver called the Epilog Zing is what you need if you are the kind of person who likes to place your mark on everything you own. The Zing is tough and has been designed to tackle just about anything, that is if you can fit the object inside of it! Wood, leather, plastic, metal, you name it. It uses laser and the engraving whatever you decided you want to label (be it a graphical image or your name) is done on the PC which is then connected to it. The only down side is the Zing costs $8000 USD… But I assume you would be rich enough to afford it given you have so many things to be engraved!
Watch the video after the break, showing the Zing at work with an iPhone and a chunk of wood!
I’m not a great fan of Buffalo products, in fact I haven’t actually bought anything from Buffalo as yet, but this latest invention is a brilliant idea. The wireless keyboard featured below is well equipped with 2.4 GHz radio frequency technology and offers users up to 17 hot keys (great for you lazy lot!).
Over at the top right is the solar panel, it is adjustable so you will be able to ‘get the most’ out of your solar energy. The only thing is I don’t know exactly how this will work, it would sound abit pointless to have a solar panel if it also requires some sort of battery in place to work, sometimes these things happen but I’m not sure.
Though we don’t know how much indoor light it will actually need to get it ‘warmed up’? One thing is probably certain, gamers don’t expect great performance if you’re planning on buying this piece of environmentally friendly gizmo, however I do look forward to finding more about it. The Buffalo wireless ‘green’ keyboard will soon be released in Japan for approximately $128 USD.
