No, I don’t mean literally a ride off my back like a piggyback ride but this, a pack that you where on your back (backpack) that’s actually a bike! The designer Chang Ting Jen came up with this brilliant idea, that if we could have bikes in our backpacks, not only will this be beneficial to our environment but also means good health with increased physical activity but also convenience! You might think it would be quite troublesome to carry this around over our back, but the backpack bicycle weighs just 5.5kg. If the metal bits can get replaced by plastic, this should even come down further more! Though just an idea, the backpack also doubles up as a hand cart whenever necessary (as pictured), so that means the backpack bicycle will be great for those who enjoy exploring but also beneficial for grannys when they go shopping!

That looks like a great idea to get more people to travel by train! Atleast here in Holland. I am curious how much would fit in the handcart, f.ex a guitar amp….:)

Hmm, good question! I don’t think it will fit very much and what it can hold will likely depend on what material it will be made of. But I really look forward to seeing this in reality!

Hmmmn, that is cool. A portable bike you can carry anywhere. When will it be officially released?

Thanks for your comment Hye, but like most concepts/designs, these things will probably take a while before they will actually appear, by that time you will probably have forgotten you read about it in the first place!
