Latest gadgets: Buffalo’s wireless keyboard is solar powered!!!

Posted on July 12th, 2008 by Editorial Staff in Gadgets, Latest News, Technology

I’m not a great fan of Buffalo products, in fact I haven’t actually bought anything from Buffalo as yet, but this latest invention is a brilliant idea. The wireless keyboard featured below is well equipped with 2.4 GHz radio frequency technology and offers users up to 17 hot keys (great for you lazy lot!).

Over at the top right is the solar panel, it is adjustable so you will be able to ‘get the most’ out of your solar energy. The only thing is I don’t know exactly how this will work, it would sound abit pointless to have a solar panel if it also requires some sort of battery in place to work, sometimes these things happen but I’m not sure.

Though we don’t know how much indoor light it will actually need to get it ‘warmed up’? One thing is probably certain, gamers don’t expect great performance if you’re planning on buying this piece of environmentally friendly gizmo, however I do look forward to finding more about it. The Buffalo wireless ‘green’ keyboard will soon be released in Japan for approximately $128 USD.

There will most prob be a rechargeable battery in the mix somewhere, to ease out the load. How effective this device is depends on the quality of the solar cells being used in the manufacture of this keyboard. Am all for wireless technology, cords suck!

This is a great idea. Solar power has been used for years inside of calculators and they need to start putting them into more electronics instead of continuing to waste batteries.
