We’re always mad about new technology / gadget concepts and that’s why we decided to report about the Chess car even though we didn’t actually like the look of it :( The Chess mobile is a concept by Dutch designer Frans Hegge and Thijs van der Zanden.

What’s the idea behind it and why does it look like this? The idea is that driving it will ensure more passenger and driver safer, the cabin / spacewagon-like thingy resting on top of a platform that can move it around in the unfortunate event of a crash, can keep passengers out of the deformation zone (the area of the car that is subjected to most impact). In theory, the passengers would experience a lot less of the force, or at least the cabin wouldn’t be smashed in, so injuries are a lot less likely.
