I’m unsure how many readers from here in the UK will know about this but certainly this will have been all over the news in the US. What’s happening is that Yahoo and Google are talking into a deal in which Google will ‘help’ bring up Yahoo’s revenue which as you will imagine make it even more difficult for Microsoft to further approach Yahoo to settle another buyout deal. Google which at the moment is the giant for earning money most effectively from online ads will ‘assist’ Yahoo by delivering Yahoo search engine results onto their own search result pages (to my understanding) resulting in Yahoo earning 800 million more yearly, but the way many sees this is that Google will just be knocking out one of its main search engine competitor. In my opinion, this feels more like a search engine referral program, but the partnership will remain undecided by the justice department until September this year and Michael Arrington over at TechCrunch thinks the deal is unlikely to happen, check out the short report below…
