Maybe 3D holograms are not the very latest in trend, but these are! The geniuses at ICT Graphics Lab of USC have managed to create these holographic displays via a new low cost method, which means bring a geek’s dream to reality has just become much more easier!
I won’t even go into how it was done, it wasn’t simple, but the whole process involved the clever use of spinning mirrors, high-speed DLP projections and lots of calculations in order to get the correct and most precise positioning. The result, Star Wars TIE Fighter brought to life!
Watch the video below, it’s really interesting!
Bill Gates is finally saying his last words as he waves goodbye to Microsoft, but he’ll still remain as the chairman though! Bill Gates will be moving on his focus to more charitable work and of course that means his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation!
Watch this quick six-minute video of what Bill Gates has done and offered to the IT world…
If you’re always into the latest trends with video gaming and game console accessories then the latest PS 3 bluetooth headset by SOCOM might interest you. What’s special about this piece of gadget is that it’s got a fancy MUTE button, something that you would probably never find on any other bluetooth headset currently available at your local shop.

(see higher resolution picture in the gallery below…)
As you would imagine, this bluetooth headset has been designed for gamers! So obviously it will come with a cradle / charger so that it can be conveniently charged using your Playstation without having to go anywhere else like your PC to access the USB port.
What you’re looking at is not just any wall of LCD displays stacked on top of each other to form a large display but is NASA’s highest ever resolution visualisation system. The ‘hyperwall-2′ is 23 feet high and 10 feet wide and consists of 128 screens driven by 128 graphic processing units with a total of 1,024 processor cores capable of displaying a quarter billion-pixel graphics!
Compared to NASA’s original system, which was developed over six years ago in 2002 by the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) visualization team, its original visualisation system consisted of just 49 screens, the hyperwall-2 is certainly a ‘massive’ improvement from its original.
Of course, the hyperwall-2 visualisation system won’t be used for gaming (let’s hope we receive some leaked pics of people trying to
), it will be used for more important things like exploring mars and stuff… Check out the pics and the NASA press release below for full details…
Many of us will have had experiences of places that give poor mobile phone reception, they make you absolutely fed up with our mobile phone network. Cellranger is a new USB device that claims to help us in these situations by adding a boost to our mobile phone’s signal by up to 2 to 3 bars in places where you don’t normally get any reception.
It’s easy to install, simply connect the USB to your laptop. And it does not require any physical connection to your phone. Cellranger will recognise most mobile phone networks, including 3G networks. However, you will still be limited in the download speed and the call quality. It currently supports North America only, doh!

This is great news, especially for those who had been highly suspicious as to whether or not the Wii Fit was just for a laugh when it was first released. The man featured below took the experiment on himself and decided to play the Wii Fit for a continuous 45-day period to see whether he would loose any weight. In the end, as you can probably see, he’s lost quite a substantial amount -7 kgs to be precise and by the looks of it, also gained a vague six pack!? So for those kids whose parents didn’t buy them a Wii Fit just because they thought it would help you shed your weight, go and tell them there’s now living prove!
But at the end of the day, I suppose if you do enough exercise consistently, you’re bound to loose weight, I think the role of the Wii Fit here is that it just gives you enough motivation to actually do the exercise!

Ever thought a mobile phone could have the dialing features of the good old rotary dial phone from the 70s/80s (or even older, not entirely sure!)?
I never thought I would appreciate this type of feature on a large touch screen phone such as Apple’s iPhone but I have to admit this application actually looks pretty impressive on video. iRetroPhone which is a great name that fully describes to you what it’s about, provides you with the sound and animation you would expect when using the oldschool rotary dial phone. iRetroPhone will soon be available via the Apple App Store…
