Got lots of VHS tapes lying around at home? Why not make use of them and put some life back into them once more by putting abit of DIY effort into it and changing it into an ever so popular USB hub?

DIY Gadgets: Recycle your video tapes into USB hubs…

This I found over at Hacked Gadgets lights up when it’s connected to a power source and they even say if you’re really into DIY, you can even put a tiny motor into it so that when its plugged in the tape appears to be rolling the whole time – lol!

Earlier on, we reported about NDrives, the latest in technology in the world of sat-navs that will soon in the future help guide us through the motorway and confusing streets of inner city areas using real maps and not just 2D/3D imaging.

Today we’ve got more news, Becker, the company which brought the Traffic Assist 7827 during the CES 2008 are now introducing the latest Traffic Assist 7977, which seems to be already available in some parts of Europe (haven’t seen it yet here in the UK though). This GPS I think has some functions that no other GPS firm has yet been able to offer efficiently, the 7977 will have a 4.3-inch touch screen, bluetooth handsfree functionality and compatibility for USB drives for audio and pictures. But wait, here’s the best bit, live traffic updates (not sure yet how this will actually work), reality view which lets you know when you are coming near a junction and also lane assistance, so it will tell you whether you are in the right lane in order to reach the destination efficiently. If everyone had one of these you would really need to learn how to drive then, neither would there be so many reckless car accidents on round abouts!

Hi everyone, got some cool and freaky robots to show today. Modular robots are probably not the latest in robotics but they are getting more and more advanced as research goes further. Modular robots are basically robots that are resilient to damage, if you break them apart, they reassemble themselves back together! For me, the theory is abit difficult to understand but from the NewScientist video, it’s explained and it sure is a joy to watch.

The video shows ckBot, from the University of Pennsylvania, Modular Robotics Lab demonstrating the principle…

They are abit slow when it comes to rebuilding themselves back together, but they remind me of worms when they get cut into sections, they each wriggle about on their own (but worms don’t reassemble themselves back together though!).

Ever thought BlackBerry would produce a clamshell phone like this? To most, the name BlackBerry have almost been imprinted in everyone’s mind as a bulky looking (those not familiar with its ‘range’ of bulky designs, may I suggest you click here…), style-limited mobile phone that businessmen and workaholics use so that they can keep in touch with their work on the go and during out of office hours. But now, BlackBerry has decided to twist your imagination abit so that you may think of them from now on as a brand that also offers phones that provide work functionality and style!

BlackBerry reveals latest clamshell phone: The KickStart…

After our earlier post showing a possible picture of the next generation Apple iPhone, more pics have now been leaked, just two to be precise. Again I feel sceptical about the authenticity of these pics simply because of the picture quality and size. I mean why not give us a closer look eh?

More iPhone 2.0 pics leaked - real or fake, you decide…

More iPhone 2.0 pics leaked - real or fake, you decide…

The back has the black glossy finish and not metal like the present iPhone, which is consistent with our earlier post, but the fact that this guy’s new ‘iPhone 2.0′ is fairly scratched makes me highly suspicious that he’s holding a fake phone…

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this but Google ‘seems’ to like us again :) At the beginning of the year I think, our pagerank dropped from PR 2 to knot but now it seems to have come back (hopefully for good) and higher than it was before. The fact is, I don’t know how much we should depend on Google’s pagerank these days, with or without our pagerank, we still had the same good amount of traffic so it didn’t really affect us and Google was still sending in to us the majority of our daily traffic.

I know some popular blogs like John Chow have also had their PRs updated, I personally would comment that I haven’t made great efforts to ‘study’ about optimising pageranks or SEO, but if you recently had a PR update, feel free to share with us your ‘history’ of changes…

I suppose this is how realistic the technology world is these days Steve! I hate to say it, but the MacBook is probably on the verge to becoming the embarrassment for a brand which was doing so well… Not that the MacBook isn’t good, but there are just others that can do better!

Enjoy this video just picked up yesterday…
