The topic of this post has been one that I personally have been looking forward to find out for sometime. Over at WMExperts, they’ve published a well written detailed comparison of these two phones. The verdict?
Well, in general the HTC Touch does seem to be more of a phone that suits businessmen, people who really need a handheld for work purposes, for organisation. While both phones deliver about the same functionality, such as Wifi, bluetooth, 2 megapixel camera and of course a screen with unique finger touch-flow capability.
On the other hand the iPhone gains its merits particularly in the field of entertainment, of course the iPhone wouldn’t be half as popular as it is now if iPod hadn’t existed and having iPod integrated within the iPhone is certainly the most attractive feature to many… But I’m also attracted to the fact that it doesn’t use Windows Mobile (proves I’m kind of bias myself!) and uses Safari instead of IE to surf the net! In addition to that the iPhone has just got an absolutely @#$%^&* amazing clear screen, the iPhone is also slightly thinner than the Touch by the way.
More on what we think after the break…
Also one problem with the iPhone at the moment is probably as you will have guessed, the problem with actually unlocking it. I’m quite bothered with the fact that I’m constantly needed to worry about carefully choosing whether or not to update the phone to the latest firmware if I had one. If I trust the wrong rumor, my phone gets bricked! I suppose if I did have one, I should just not upgrade it to the latest firmware as often as I should after I’ve unlocked it?
I know I’m rambling on abit here now, but the point is, both these phones are great in their own way, while the HTC Touch may be slightly disadvantaged in terms of entertainment purposes, however it would undoubtedly make a brilliant handheld-organiser-mobile phone. I would definitely recommend visiting WMExpert’s full review and comparison of the two phones, but first here’s a little video to demostrate to you how they compare:
