With the recent buzz about the use of the free iPhone “jailbreakme” AppSnapp Installer for 1.1.1, we’re disappointed to say that the iPhones soon to be delivered to the UK from O2 won’t be able to take advantage of this brilliant piece of firmware breakthrough…

Apple iPhone Firmware 1.1.2

Why? It seems that from the image shown above, the iPhone which will be arriving the UK on November 9th will come with the latest firmware version 1.1.2, which means this lot will have already out-paced jailbreakme‘s recent application.

So what will upgrading to 1.1.2 do to your iPhone?

  1. Bricks iPhones unlocked with AnySIM
  2. Third-party applications will be inaccessible after application. If you’re running iPhone hacks, DON’T UPGRADE!
  3. The TIFF exploit (wherein flaws in the way the iPhone processes images stored in that file format allowed for hacks) is closed

However, it isn’t all so terrible for those who have pre-ordered their iPhones, because with firmware 1.1.2 you will be receiving additional features like 12 language support, french & german keyboards. It is also believed that the 1.1.2 was pre-installed because it was necessary to enable UK’s iPhones to obtain access to The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots around Europe.

Apple iPhone Coming November 9th

Let’s look on the bright side, first of all it isn’t all bad news as long as you don’t upgrade if you already have an iPhone, secondly sim unlock apps will soon be coming our way, most definitely, we can bet on that!
