Here’s just a quick update on the pricing of the just released Sony Ericsson K850i here in the UK. It seems after it was finally released two days ago, Orange is now offering the SE K850i for free on an 18-month contract which costs ?30 per month and includes 350 minutes and 200 texts, however at the moment only the green K850i is available via Orange… (this offer has not yet been released via the Orange website, this was discovered via the CarphoneWarehouse) Incomparison O2 is also now offering an 18-month tariff which gives you a free handset as well, just to be competitive, the price for line rental is also ?30 per month and includes 400 free minutes and 500 texts.

Indeed O2 does have the SE K850i both in green and blue, however their little extra gift to you for taking out their tariff is only a one month free insurance offer (which Orange also does) and “a 100KB inclusive monthly internet browsing offer” which is almost bound to be exceeded (?3 per MB charge applies after you have used your FREE allowance of 100KB).

So all in all, if you’re not too fuzzed about using Orange and getting 50 minutes and 300 texts less, choosing to use Orange and taking advantage of their magic number offer which offers unlimited, free calls to your friends who are also Orange pay monthly customers seems much more ideal…
