Video of gambling robots from RoboDevelopment…

On October 31, 2007, in Gadgets, Robotics, by Admin Staff

I have here a video of a dice gambling robot from the recent RoboDevelopment Conference and Expo 2007, gambling which is not actually the theme, the theme is visual pattern recognition. This video shows a custom-built humanoid robot playing specially made dice with one of its developers from Virginia Tech (who apologized for the fact that the robot?s head was in fact attached to a different robot). This isn?t new technology, but what is new is that the robot is being controlled by commercially available software with these pattern recognition abilities standard, no complicated programming is necessary.

Yes you are correct, if you’re reading this post because you read the header you have not mistaken yourself. Microsoft’s latest, meant-to-be the best OS actually runs fastest on a MacBook Pro! This was recently suggested by PC World when they were testing for the fastest possible Windows Vista notebook and found that the MacBook Pro performed the best on the PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score. With the event of this news, the MacBook Pro have now been selected to be one of the most notable notebooks of 2007!

This is just a quick post to bring out a video I found off YouTube, especially for those on Macs who still haven’t decided whether or not to upgrade (you should!). Since two million copies have already been sold over the first weekend, you should relax and be quite confident that it’s not going to become a Vista phenomenon, plus it’s on track to becoming Apple’s best selling OS!

Here are some feedback and comments regarding the Leopard, gathered from ValleyWag’s quick post and I have to it’s generally great!

Walt Mossberg, The Wall Street Journal: Faster, easier than Vista. For me, the marquee features are Time Machine that automatically backs up your entire computer in the background; Cover Flow and Quick Look, for rapidly viewing the contents of files; and new techniques that allow you to access other computers on your network or over the Internet with no technical expertise. The menu bar is now translucent, which can make it hard to see the items it contains. The new folder icons are less attractive than their predecessors.

David Pogue, The New York Times: Sleek, modern-looking desktop. Time Machine, Quick Look. Having virtual-screen software built in with so much polish makes a huge difference. A more polished Boot Camp lets you restart in Windows. Screen sharing lets gurus assist newbies from afar. iChat blue-screen effect. It also lets you display documents, presentations or movies to your videoconferencing buddies. The most serious misstep: See-through menus.

Edward C. Baig, USA Today: Time Machine. Cool video chat. Pretty e-mail: more than 30 stationery templates — baby announcements, party invitations — with integrated photo browser. You can create Notes and To-Dos inside Mail. It can detect addresses, phone numbers and dates inside a message. If you join the $100-a-year .Mac online service, you can access your machine remotely. I ran into snags trying to remotely connect from a hotel.

A video demo to follow just after the break…

This post is abit late and should have been published over the weekend but here it is! The latest refined and redesigned edition of Nokia N95, the N95 Black 8Gb edition is now out and available locally throughout the UK.

At the moment, our findings show that the new Nokia N95 Black is available only from Vodafone. But we will keep everyone updated on any news.

One important point to note is that the N95 8Gb just released here in the UK is the internal version (Source: Phones4U), unlike the N95 8Gb which will be available to Asia, ours will not have a memory card slot and therefore you should not expect a memory card to come with your package if you do buy one (at least that’s the info at the moment).

Have you ever been in a situation where you have two PCs with the same piece of hardware like a network adapter for example and wanted to transfer the driver on one pc to the other?

Indeed, we all run into situations like this time and time again, especially when we’re trying to format a pc and think… hmm the other one’s probably got a backup of these drivers anyway, however the real problem comes once you’ve formatted your pc, you actually don’t know how to transfer it or you’ve lost the manufacturer’s hardware discs…

Well the solution to all the crazy, stressful scenarios we’ve come up with above is DriverMax.

DriverMax can help you handle these situations, no matter what type of driver you’re have trouble with, mouse, display, sound cards, network… as long as you’ve got DriverMax installed on both PCs, you will be able to export and import drivers without giving yourself a migraine!

You wouldn’t believe this until you saw the pictures, over at TerraWind they call this the world’s first luxury amphibious motorcoach / yacht. TerraWind have designed this vehicle based on the best features of world class yachts and luxury motorcoaches, length of 42’6″ and 8 feet 6 inches wide, the Terra Wind RV is designed around a marine grade fiberglass hull of plywood reinforced fiberglass and marine grade structural members. As you will see in the pictures, there’s also a retractible deck for lounging, fishing, swimming and diving!

It also seems that it’s no rocket science to make the transition from highway to water, you simply place the auto transmission into neutral and shift the marine transmission into gear. And suddenly, you have a houseboat. Top speed is 85 miles an hour on land and up to 7 knots on the water, which isn’t too bad at all for a vehicle that size!
