Just over the weekend I read some exciting news off Gadgettastic regarding some leaked details of the Apple iPhone’s soon to come launch. As seen in the ad below (read in German I believe), iPhone is due to arrive Germany by November 12, “Das Kulthandy aus den USA endlich in Deutschland”, probably reads something like “the mobile phone as seen in USA to arrive in Germany”. Why Germany? As we mentioned previously in one of our posts, T-Mobile will be the sole carrier to bring the Apple iPhone to Germany, while other countries of the EU like France will be brought by Orange, click here to revisit that post.

Apple iPhone Germany Ad

As seen in the ad, the iPhone will come in a 16Gb version, along side a 2-megapixel camera, it will be a 3G phone (HSDPA)! The handset will be retailed at about £340, while tariff packages that will go with the iPhone will vary from £33 to £46 which isn’t terribly expensive comparing to what we normally use here in the UK. However, whether these prices and the launch date of iPhone in the EU will be ‘sync-ed’ with that of the UK still remains unknown…

Apple iPod Touch

The new iPod has been spoken about in everyone’s conversation here in the UK, Apple this and iPod Touch that…woh…we britons are just as addicted to Apple as any other nation after all. I realise its already been in the press, in the news on tv and you readers out there probably know more about then i do! But ok, it doesn’t matter, this will just be a quick post with lots of cool pics and some main specs about the new iPod Touch.

So it turns out Apple will finally be launching an iPod with touch screen and WiFi, the new iPod will be equipped with a hi-resolution 3.5″ screen, Safari web browser, with its internet connectivity, users will also be able to directly download music via iTunes. The new iPod Touch does not have any buttons, music controls, everything is simply based on control via its touchscreen. However, if you’ve read up to this point, you may probably realise there is really nothing more to the new iPod Touch that iPhone doesn’t already have, except for the phone bit.

If you were to hold the iPod Touch, you will notice that it is thinner (8mm) in comparison to the iPhone, may be that is the main difference! In terms of pricing, iPod Touch will be expected to arrive the UK (and worldwide) by the end of the month. Roughly speaking, the 8 Gb version will cost approx. £150.00, while the 16 Gb will be £200.00.

If you haven’t seen the new iPod Touch’s ‘guided tour’ video, here’s your chance now:

Enough reading, have a look at these pics for a sec and see what the real thing looks like:

When you think of LG mobile phones nowadays, you would probably think of the PRADA phone, while LG isn’t renowned for quality camera phones, it doesn’t mean they can’t make one! The LG KU990 is actually one good example, though it isn’t the first time LG has launched a 5-megapixel phone, the appearance of the new LG KU990 certainly isn’t as nerdy as the LG KG920!

What makes the “Viewty” special is that it has been improved based on KG920′s attractive functionality. What we mean by that is… a camera with 5-megapixel (Schneider Kreuznach Lens), 2592×1944 pixels, autofocus / manual focus, video (VGA 30 frames per second, QVGA up to 120 frames per second), LED photo light and image stabilisation. In my opinion, the ability for the KU990 Viewty to shoot up to 120 frames per second is truly incredible. That rate could possibly be 2-4 times faster than any normal video camcorder, that being said, such a rate is highly capable of shooting fast moving action videos.

If that hasn’t attracted you yet, on top of all that high-tech machinery the Viewty will also come with a 3-inch touchscreen which produces gentle responsive vibrations when touched much like the of Motorola’s V8. With the new KU990 being a 3G (HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps) phone, the phone will be able to directly upload and watch videos straight from YouTube, now this certainly is something that iPhones haven’t been able to offer!

Check out the LG KU990 Viewty demo video and also a video taken at 120 frames per second right after the break:

Nintendo Wii has taken the record for becoming the fastest selling video game console in the UK ever, with one million consoles already sold in just 38 weeks. This is certainly a record for the books, as the last record was by Sony who sold the same equivalent amount but took 50 weeks. While last but not least, XBox 360 needed 60 weeks to attract the same number of customers!

The pics below show the concept idea of a new upcoming multimedia device designed by Danilo Mangini called the “Lobster”. Strange look? Maybe so, but the name describes it fairly well, the segmented pieces of each module makes it easily recognisable as a lobster’s tail.

As you can see in one of the pics above, the “Lobster” isn’t just an mp3 player, it has quite alot of different ‘attachable’ functions too. The LCD screen in the middle acts as a base for the variety of modules that are plugged in, like cardiometer, etc…

Personally I think this concept is very unique, once this device gets on sell, people could separately buy new independent modules of their choice, kind of like getting add-on extensions for your Firefox browser :) , an idea maybe?
